How to Install Mailbox to Post

First,s let’s start with the wooden post.
Step 1: Measure the mailbox length and width from inside
First of all, turn over your mailbox and properly measure the length and width from inside.
Note: Please measure it properly because based on this we can cut down our wooden board.
Step 2: Get 1 inch or 4-inch thick wood board
Get 1″ thick wooden board which we gonna use to place our mailbox.
I recommend using a 1-inch thick board it’s perfect.
Step 3: Cut it by the same size as mailbox length and width
Now first I would recommend cross-checking mailbox width and length then after the draw that same width and length on board.
Now cut that board properly with the help of the tool you have.
Step 4: Now, place your wood board properly on the post and fasten it to the post in the center by screw
Once your cutting wood board is ready it’s time to place it on the post pole and fasten it in the center with the help of some screw.
Note: Please pay attention to this and screw it all the way down so it will not fall off.
Step 5: Set the mailbox on the board in the center
Now try to place a mailbox on board in the center and eyeball each side for proper fitting.
After placing it check the mailbox door by opening and closing a few times to check any interference with the board.
Try to cut down your board a little bit from the front so it will not interfere mailbox door.
Step 6: Finally, Fasten your mailbox with a wooden board through the screw
Once everything seems perfect start screwing the mailbox side to your board correctly.

If you have a metal post it’s really easy to attach the mailbox to it with these simple steps.
Step 1: Place and position your mailbox on Metal Post
Place and position your mailbox on a metal pole properly. Make sure it’s in the center of the pole.
Check each side of the mailbox once for better fitting.
Step 2: Take metal brackets
If you’re mounting on the metal pole the most effective way is to use the mounting bracket which you got with the post.

Step 3: Position The Metal Brackets
It’s time to position these brackets on the metal pole.
Properly align it according to your mailbox requirements.
Step 4: Place your Mailbox on Brackets
Now, place a mailbox on metal brackets and check its alignment once.
Each mailbox has a different size so make sure to check the mailbox requirements with brackets.
Step 5: Fasten Your Brackets And Mailbox
Now, start screwing the mailbox to the brackets through with a screw and screwdriver. Make sure first it aligns is correct and would stay properly on brackets.
Of course, drill down if your metal post does not have existing holes.

It’s depending upon your post but I recommend installing a metal mailbox with a metal post or even with a wood post.
Metal mailbox has so many benefits over wood mailbox of course it’s more durable too.

However, if you have a wood post then you may install a wood mailbox with no problem with that too.
What are the regulations when installing a mailbox?
As you know there are well-defined regulations that everyone should follow while installing a mailbox.
The USPS(United States postal service) has defined restrictions which ares as follows.
So, what are the mailbox installation regulations? Well, the mailbox must be 41 to 45 inches from the road to the bottom of the post. Also, it should be aligned six to eight inches back from the road edge.
